  Mixed feelings about eating here. When we went in we found a nice place to sit out of the way and where served by a polite waitress but not very happy. Maybe having a bad day. We ordered the breakfast and a pot of tea for two. Food came out very fast. The breakfast was very good value for money the food tasted wonderful especially the sausages which were local. However tea mugs with dirty but we were happy with the overall experience. I was a bit disappointed when I went to pay as we have been charged with two tea when are the places I have visited only charge for a pot of tea with two cups. My other issue is we were not asked if we wanted any sauces when served our food. So went to find some ketchup myself but they didn't seem to have any. Also mayonnaise source had been left on the table for quite a while this is not great as unless you plan to throw it away after it needs to be refrigerated. So to sum up food was great had a very good portion size bit upset about the price of tea. Lovely would have been nice if the waitress was a bit more polite to take our business. Will revisit again to see if any improvements.

  Disappointing visit. Wasn't particularly busy but took a long time for drinks and even longer for crumpets. As other guides have noted staff are polite but seem overwhelmed / unhappy. Reasonable prices though. Homemade cakes looked very nice, although did not try on this occasion. Not somewhere to go in a rush but wouldn't avoid either... (But do check your cups as one of ours was distinctly unclean and it must happen a lot as they weren't even remotely surprised by our request for a new one!)

  It was well worth it. We had to have a doggie bag. Made a light lunch for day after.
